Jesus birth is a time of celebration. Without a Savior we wouldn't have hope.
Yet Christmas time isn't always a joy. At times it is a season of reflection from hardships endured during the past year.
The Christmas season is an excellent opportunity to share the love of Jesus with your community. It is an opportunity to minister both to those who know Him as Savior and for those who are hurting.
Here are a list of suggestions your church fellowship could take part in as part of the Christmas season celebration:
Collaborate with other church fellowships in your community to host a meal for those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas day.
Host a Bethlehem Walk.
Start an Alpha course in the new year to help people make sense of the gospel message they heard.
Give a food basket to members of your church family who aren't able to afford a Christmas dinner.
Have the choir prepare a special evening of music which shares the gospel message of Jesus birth.
Host seminars to equip church members in pastoral care. They are in turn equipped to share Jesus love for those who are hurting in the community who may choose not to come to church.
Host an ecumenical night with other area churches
Assist shoppers at a local shopping mall in ways such as providing a doorman service, carrying bags to car, etc. This would require permission from mall administration in advance.
Shovel the snow off peoples driveways in your community.
Visit the sick, residents of senior retirement communities and shut ins.
Send letters to troops who are serving your country and won't be home at Christmas
Participate in Samaritans Purse
Visit patients of a local hospital who aren't able to be home at Christmas. Find out in advance what gift you could bring
